The Mickey Mouse Cinematic Universe (MMCU) is an American media franchise and shared fictional universe that is centered on a series of computer-animated films produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and based on Walt Disney's established characters. It is the successor of the Disney Animated Features canon. The franchise has expanded to include comic books (published by Disney's Marvel Comics division) and theatrical short films. The shared universe, much like the Disney comics based on the classic Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts, was established by crossing over common plot elements, settings, cast, and characters.
The first film released in the MMCU was Mickey Mouse (2023), which began the first phase of films culminating in the crossover film Mythos Island. "Phase Two" began with Mickey Mouse 3 and concluded with Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Disney is preparing "Phase Three", beginning with the release of Darkwing Duck. The MMCU also includes tie-in comics and theatrical short films.
