Jake and Yukinari are best pals and seem to have a brotherly-like relationship. When Yukinari is being picked on by ether Kirie, Fukuyama, or anyone else Jake always comes to his defence. He also teaches Yukinari how to fight his enemies (ecspecially Fukuyama).

Through an act of will, Jake can transform his body into any known animal on the planet Earth and even alien ones. When assuming the form of another animal, he also adopts that particular animal's physical characteristics. Jake can always revert back to his human form at any time of his choosing. Jake is capable of speech in animal form.
